Hurricane Omar

Hurricane Omar hit Anguilla last night as a Category 3 storm. Thankfully, no injuries have been reported. Damage, however, is still being assessed. Blanchards Restaurant is still standing, although we lost our palm trees and much of our gardens. Elsewhere on the island, beach erosion is clearly a problem, but we’re hoping most of the sand will come back over the next few days. There’s currently no power and hopefully that will be restored soon as well. Our generator is chugging away keeping the wine cellar at a steady 57 degrees. We’re still scheduled to open for the season on November 1st but waiting to hear about the hotels. Thanks to all of you who sent us e-mails with love and good wishes.

You are both living the life I would love to have. I hope one day to be able to travel to Anguila, and eat at your beautiful restaraunt, and possibly meet you both. I have hope one day to get my life on track, and be as successful as the two of you are. Your story is inspirational, and gives people hope and makes you stop and think and examine your own life. I have all your books and find them very to be wonderful. Thank you both for being how you are. Sincerely, Ivonne

Ivonne, although we are greatly flattered by your note, the truth is that we’ve been inspired by so many people over the years and now it’s our turn to pass that spirit along to others. It’s important to know that not everything we do is successful.

If there’s something about your life you’d like to change, you are the only person in the world that can make that happen. Once you make the decision to follow a dream - any kind of dream whatsoever - just take one tiny step forward and see how it goes. If it doesn’t work out, learn from your mistakes and just start again with a different approach.

And yes, you are right - there is always hope. Always!

Thanks for your post and please keep in touch.
